30-DAY STORYLEARNING® CHALLENGE

Amazing Adjectives & Adverbs

Take our fluency-boosting November challenge & master 79 essential everyday adjectives & adverbs and bring a whole new level of expression and flair to your Japanese ...once and for all!

Start Date: 1 June

Level: N4 (Upper Beginner / Lower Intermediate)

Congrats… you’ve learned the basics of Japanese!

But can you really say that your Japanese is full of life?

Do you express yourself clearly and with style?

Now that’s a much harder task.

That’s where Japanese adjectives and adverbs come in.

Adjectives and adverbs add life to a language. They allow you to describe the world around you and express yourself more intelligently.

So you can have real meaningful conversations and enjoy speaking Japanese.

But learning them isn’t all that easy...

What's So Difficult About Adjectives & Adverbs?

Japanese adjectives are difficult because they behave almost like verbs.

There are also two different types you need to learn:

  • i-adjectives
  • and na-adjectives

Both types do the same job, but grammatically, they are used in very different ways.

Trickier still, the adjectives you use affect other things, like whether you need to put desu at the end of a sentence.

With so many options to choose from and so many strange rules to remember, adjectives are the stuff of Japanese nightmares.

It can all get pretty overwhelming pretty fast!

But fear not...

Japanese adjectives and adverbs don’t have to be intimidating.

Especially when you learn with stories, instead of rules.

I’ve created a unique 30-Day Challenge called "Amazing Adjectives & Adverbs" that will help you learn and internalise exactly Japanese adjectives and adverbs, so you can express yourself in Japanese like the intelligent adult you are.

  • No more boring textbooks.
  • No more confusing adjective rules.
  • No more memorising long lists of Japanese adverbs.

And most importantly...

No more frustrating silences when you want to express yourself in Japanese with your Japanese-speaking family and friends.

Introducing the June Challenge:

"Amazing Adjectives & Adverbs"

With...

Here’s how the challenge works.

The challenge is based on an exciting original story in Japanese that develops over the 30 days of the challenge.

This is a brand new story, written exclusively for this 30-Day Challenge.

We’ve created the story to be jam-packed with examples of Japanese adjectives & adverbs.

Every day, you’ll receive one new chapter of the story, along with a short video lesson and simple exercises to help you understand how these Japanese adjectives & adverbs work in the story.

It'll take you about 15 minutes each day.

All you have to do is show up every day…

Over the course of the month, the daily immersion will help you absorb the use of adjectives and adverbs naturally, until you "just know" instinctively how they work.

The result is that you'll be able to speak and understand Japanese confidently without worrying about making mistakes or getting stuck for words.

Instead, you'll speak Japanese freely and fluently, because...

1) You'll instinctively know how Japanese adjectives work and which adjectives and adverbs to use in your sentences...

2) The adjectives and adverbs you need will already be where you need them - on the tip of your tongue!

Here's What's Included...

The concept is beautifully simple!

Every day, for 30 days, you’ll get:

  • One 250-word chapter of our Japanese story (jam-packed with examples of essential Japanese adjectives and adverbs in context)
  • The written story plus audio book (so you can read or listen...wherever you are!)
  • A short 5-minute video lesson with our instructor, Jeremy. (He'll explain the different adjectives and adverbs used in the story)
  • A short daily practice exercise (to help you remember what you’ve learned)
  • Discussion with dozens of fellow challengers in our interactive Facebook group (so you can discuss the story and get answers to questions).

We’ve carefully structured the entire 30 days, so all you have to do is turn up and get stuck in!

Frequently Asked Questions

What level is the challenge for?
Both the story and the lesson content is aimed at students with an N4 level of grammar and vocabulary and an N5 level knowledge of kanji. (That's high-beginner to low-intermediate). In other words, this is for you if you've been studying Japanese for a little while (or maybe a long while!) and can understand at least some Japanese, but struggle to express yourself in a comfortable and natural way.
How can I access the challenge?
Mobile, desktop, laptop, tablet... The challenge is super user-friendly and you'll be able to log on from anywhere!
What exactly will I learn? How will this challenge help me?
During this challenge, we'll focus on Japanese adjectives and adverbs. You'll see both i-adjectives and na-adjectives, as well as dozens of useful Japanese adverbs recycled over and over throughout the story. This means you'll learn how Japanese adjectives and adverbs work to the point where they are effortless and automatic and you can use and understand them instinctively. You'll get daily lessons from Jeremy, where you'll learn specifically how and why certain adjectives and adverbs are used in each example. This means you'll develop an intuitive and native-like understanding of how to use them yourself.
What if it's too hard, or my level is too low?
To make the challenge achievable, we've kept each chapter short - only 250 words! This means that you'll be able to easily make it to the end of the chapter each day, even if it does take you a little longer. However, the daily video lessons will give you all the support you need, as you'll have clear, professional explanations for how adjectives and adverbs are used in the story. This means that, even if you're really unsure about the Japanese adjectives and adverbs right now, just by watching and studying the daily videos, you'll learn to think about them like a native speaker by the end of the challenge. If I had my way, this is the only way students would ever learn Japanese grammar!
What's so special about this "StoryLearning" method anyway?
Most Japanese students try to learn adjectives and adverbs through rules. This doesn't work, and is extremely stressful for you as a learner. Why? Because there are lots of so-called "rules" and it's impossible to hold them all in your head at the same time while you're speaking. It's also not a natural approach ... native speakers don't learn grammar with rules, after all! With the "Amazing Adjectives & Adverbs" challenge, you'll learn through example and context, just like native speakers do! The magic of learning through story is that your main focus is actually not on the grammar... you concentrate on understanding and enjoying the story! As you're reading and listening to the story, the adjectives and adverbs will begin to lodge themselves subconsciously in your brain. It doesn't happen right away - in fact it may take a couple of weeks for you to feel the real effects. But by the end of the 30 days, you'll have a native-like command of Japanese adjectives and adverbs that will amaze you.
I'm not sure I can commit for 30 days
Your daily commitment is only 15 minutes. This is because the principle of the challenge is that "little and often is the best way to learn". 15 minutes is a pretty manageable amount of time to devote to your Japanese. You can fit it in comfortably: • before breakfast • during your lunch break • after dinner • ...even while waiting for the bus! The power is in the consistency - working at it for a short time every day. You'll be amazed at the huge progress you make from simply showing up every day to work on one area of your Japanese! Remember, you get the audio of the story, as well as the text, so you can easily take part and keep up wherever you happen to be!
What if I am unhappy with the challenge?
I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with the challenge, contact me at any point during the challenge and I'll issue you a full and prompt refund.
How long do I have access to the course after the end of the challenge?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
Does the story in this challenge come with furigana? Is there romaji?
You'll receive three versions of the Japanese story. One is written in full Japanese script with furigana above the kanji. The second is written in full Japanese, without furigana. We also include a romaji version of the text.
